            The Office of the Board of Regents invites nominations and applications for the position of Deputy Director appointed by and reporting to the Executive Director/Corporate Secretary.   The individual in this position provides substantive managerial support to the Executive Director/Corporate Secretary.  The position carries a high degree of independent judgment, and is expected to act on behalf of the Executive Director/Corporate Secretary as appropriate.

 

            Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree in hand at the time of application, plus a minimum of 5 years professional experience that demonstrates strong skills in managing multiple priorities and projects.  In addition, candidates must have the following:  excellent oral and written communication skills; highly developed interpersonal skills to work with a variety of people; experience and ability to manage staff and work as part of a team; demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize assignments; and experience working with highly confidential information.  The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree, 10 years of professional experience and time spent working for public officials and/or a board of directors, familiarity with the University of Minnesota and public policy-making processes, and proficiency in computer skills and web technology.  This is an annual appointment in the academic professional and administrative series and the official University title is Director, University-wide.  The salary for this position is negotiable, starting at $75,000. 

 

            Responsibilities:   to manage the Office of the Board of Regents in support of effective governance and the Executive Director/Corporate Secretary.  This includes significant efforts related to Board of Regents meetings, agenda development, staff oversight, and office coordination.

 

The Board of Regents is the governing body of the University of Minnesota and is responsible for the overall direction of the institution.  The Board approves operating and capital budgets, annual tuition and fees, real estate transactions and building projects, long-range educational and physical plans, and academic degree programs. The Office of the Board of Regents supports the 12 regents in their policy-making role and serves as a liaison to the University’s administration and other constituencies.  Additional information can be found on the Board of Regents website at http://www1.umn.edu/regents/index.php.
