Job: MN Council on Foundations

Research Manager

Founded in 1969, the Minnesota Council on Foundations is one of the oldest regional membership associations of grantmakers in the country. Its mission is to strengthen and expand philanthropy. Members include family and private independent foundations, community and other public foundations, and corporate foundations and giving programs. With a $1.2 million annual budget, the Council is committed to providing service to its members and providing leadership in the field.

Position summary: The Research Manager is responsible for planning, developing and completing MCF’s ongoing and new research projects for Minnesota’s grantmakers, nonprofits, charitable donors, media and policymakers, in order to increase awareness, understanding and support for the role of philanthropy in Minnesota and the region. Responsibilities include research on current giving statistics and historical trends, topical and emerging issues in the field and best practices of grantmaking organizations.

This position supervises the Information Services and Database Assistant, whose primary responsibility is data collection and management. The Research Manager also works closely with the MCF staff and member grantmakers in order to serve members well, achieve strategic goals and meet the MCF mission. This position is 60% time (22.5 hours per week) with pro-rated-benefits.
