Our chapter has a long history of civic engagement, policy development and mentoring future public servants in the Twin Cities area. Our goal is to prepare a cadre of skilled public service professionals to meet the future resource demands of local, state and federal governments by providing quality professional development, networking and mentorship opportunities.

Metro Area 2008-2009 Proposed Activities

Internship and Mentor Program.
NFBPA will partner with the Humphrey Institute to pilot an internship and mentor program. Applications for summer 2009 will be available in November 2008.

Scholarships. Book scholarships will be available for Humphrey students in Spring 2009.

General Membership Meetings. Meetings will be held quarterly.
Professional Development Activities. A recent survey of current and prospective members indicated that the following topics are of interests:

· Budgeting and Management Skills -- preparing and reading financials, evaluation, strategic planning, fundraising, strategic management/planning, human resources, leadership, coaching, networking
· Career Skills -- salary negotiation, career transitions, working with management, being a new manager, succession planning
